The Chinese International Industry Fair Award (referred to as CIIF Award) is currently the exclusive industry exhibition award approved by the China State Council in China. The CIIF Award only sets ten items, covering global cutting-edge technologies such as Materials, Equipment, Energy, Medical, Aerospace, Core Equipment, etc. And CIIF Award is a weathervane for the global manufacturing technology innovation.

Recently, the 21st China International Industry Fair was grandly opened at the Shanghai International Convention and Exhibition Center. The Large-core, Ultra-Stable, Bendable Movable Optical Cable used for FAST System, which was developed by the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and FiberHome, won the CIIF New Material Award .Thatwas another important award for this project after beenawarded with the Second Prize of scientific and technological progress by Guizhou Province.
As one of the National Major Scientific Projects, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST) was mainly constructed by the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China owned the independent intellectual property rights. FAST isthe world's largest single-caliber and most sensitive radio telescope, known as "China’s Eye of Sky", Chinese nickname “TianYan”. And as of 28th , Aug,2010,the China’s Eye of Sky had found 13 high-quality pulsar candidates, and identified 93 of them as newly discovered pulsars.
The China’s Eye of Sky system is composed of active reflector system, the feed support system, the measurement control system, receiver and the terminal observation base. The Feed Cabin is liking the “Eyeball ” of the China’s Eye of Sky system, which is the most precise cord exploring component of the feed support system. While the FAST moving fiber optical cable as an important component connects the feed cabin and the control system. It is responsible for the transmission of massive astronomical exploring data that works like the “optical nerve ” of Eye of Sky.
In the Cable nets structure-feed support system,the 30-ton weight feed cabin suspended at high altitude needs to achieve millimeter-level accuracy movement within a range of 500 meters.This world-class technological breakthrough makes the comprehensive performance of "China Skyeye" far superior to other similar facilities, and it is possible to observe radio signals beyond 10 billion light years.The special feature of FAST moving fiber optical cable is that the cable will continuous reciprocating retracting moveasthe feed cabin position adjustment in the air. Within the application longevity, the repeated mechanical movements such asbending, cablecoilingand twisting will be more than 66 thousand times, besides that, the cable will suffer the harsh environment and terrible weather testing such as the wind, rain and ultraviolet radiation and so on.Therefore, in the Feed Support Cabin Scheme, the development and manufacture of the bendable-movable fiber optical cable that undertakes the massive data transmission between the aerial feed support cabin and the ground control room is one of most difficult key technologies but must be solved independently.
The 4-year-developed FiberHomemoving fiber optical cable successfully passed the 100,000 times bending fatigue test, and its anti-bending performance can be 100 times of the most tough domestic standard. The ultra-high anti-fatigue longevity can realize the flexible supported analog signal and data transmission under the long-span motion and also effectively ensure the super stability of mass data transmission under motion. Those performances make FiberHome Moving Fiber Optical Cable Successfully passed the acceptance test of "FAST Optical Cable Working Condition Simulation Experiment". The application of FiberHome FAST moving fiber optical cable effectively solved the key technological problem of FAST radio telescope and meted the engineering requirements for the transmission of massive astronomical observation data of China’s Eye of Sky.This technical achievement has pushed the static use of fiber optic cables to a new field of dynamic applications, which had been highly praised by Professor Nan Rendong, the chief engineer and chief scientist of the FAST project.
