FiberHome extensively involved in ETSI standard work, Enhancing market influences in Europe

Time:2020-12-04

In the name of China Information Communication Technologies Group Corporation (CICT), FiberHome Communications began to participate in the European Telecommunications Standardization Association (ETSI) international standard work in December 2019, opening a new battlefield for our international standardization work.

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is a non-profit Telecommunications standardization organization established by the European Commission in 1988. The area of standardization is mainly Telecommunications and involves information and broadcasting technology in cooperation with other organizations. ETSI currently has more than 900 members from 65 countries, including telecommunications administrations, national standardization organizations, network operators, equipment manufacturers, private network business providers, user research institutions, etc. As an association of telecommunications standards recognized by CEN (Comité Européen de Normalisation) and CEPT (Conference of European Post and Telecommunication ), ETSI is highly authoritative and influential in the European telecommunications industry, as its recommended standards are adopted and implemented by the European Community as the technical basis of European regulations.

Since joining ETSI, Fiberhome acts this year as a founding member to create the fifth generation (ETSI ISG F5G) fixed network working group. The working group caters to study the evolution of fixed network, matching and further enhance the value of 5G bringing to the mobile network and communication, and to determine new features of the fifth generation of fixed network and improvement direction against the former fourth generations of fixed network. Through the comprehensive application of optical fiber technology in various scenes, the mode of "fiber to the home" is transformed into "everything connected with optics".

F5G working group has a very wide range of technical research, FiberHome will join on the optical distribution network (ODN) new technology, XG (S) - PON and wi-fi 6 enhancement technique, control plane and the user plane separation, intelligent energy efficiency, the end-to-end whole stack slicing, automatic operation and management, transport network and access network synergy, develop technology domain and the renovation of the transport network, etc, so as to reflect our related technical strength.

At present, our company has participated in the first five tasks focused by F5G Working Group, including:

F5G use cases: include consumer-oriented and verticals business, and select based on the impact of identified new technology requirements.

F5G technology and standard pattern: Study the technical requirements of F5G use cases, explore existing technologies, and conduct gap analysis.

Fixed network inter-generational definition: Evaluates the driving forces and evolving paths of fixed network evolution, including transmission, access, and customer premise networks. Identify and define the main characteristics of different generations.

F5G Architecture: Define the end-to-end network architecture, features, and related network equipment/element requirements for F5G, including the customer premise network, access network, IP network, and transport network.

F5G Customer Quality of Experience: Identify the end-to-end customer quality of experience (QoE) factors for new broadband services. Analyze the general factors that affect service performance and identify the relevant QoE dimensions for each service.

In addition to THE ISG F5G work group, FiberHome also participated extensively in the standard project approval work of TC BRAN work group, ATTM AT2 Working Group, "Multi-AP performance parameter test", "RAPID Network construction of ODN pre-connection and digitization”, which further enhanced our company's participation in the European telecommunications industry in various fields.

ETSI has many features compared with ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in which we have been involved for a long time. It has a strong public character and openness, and all authorities, users, operators, equipment vendors and research units can express their opinions on an equal footing. In addition, it is sensitive to the market and formulates standards according to the needs of the market and users. Standards are used to define products and guide production, with strong pertinence and timeliness. By opening up a new field of ETSI international standardization work, fiberhome will greatly enhance its influence in the European market and help our company to explore and develop in the European market.
