A major national 863 program research project TbpsDWDM transmission system undertaken by FiberHome Technologies Group will be soon applied in   practical projects.  In the factory tests and acceptance meeting held by the Group on Sept. 15, about China Telecom's Shanghai-Hangzhou 80X40Gb/sDWDM project, a national 863 program project, the system passed the factory tests conducted by the acceptance team composed of China Telecom's Operation and Maintenance Department and Beijing Research Institute, MII's Telecom Transmission Research Institute and Huaxin Designing Institute and will serve China's 1st 3.2T DWDM optical transmission system project.
    Present at the meeting were China Telecom's Operation and Maintenance Department Chief Wang Haiqiang and Director Zhang Rong and other leaders and backbone engineers and also FiberHome Technologies' President and Party Committee Secretary Tong Guohua, Senior Consultant Mao Qian, FiberHome Telecom's Vice-President Li Guangcheng and other leaders.
    At the meeting, on behalf of all the employees of the Group, President Tong expressed sincere thanks to the members of the acceptance team for their presence and instructions at the group and to China Telecom for their energetic support to FiberHome Telecom in the course of its development.  He reviewed FiberHome Telecom's cooperation with China Telecom and commented that the cooperation with the latter in this project signified the further deepening of the partnership between the two parties.  It has not only shown its leading technological strength in the field of optical communications, but also marks a new step that China Telecom ascended in its network applications.  FiberHome Technologies will operate the project in compliance with the requirements of commercialized projects, persist in the idea that market is the criterion for testing everything and strive to complete the project in high quality and efficiency as soon as possible.
    Soon afterwards, General Manager He Jianming of FiberHome Telecom's Optical Network Products Department gave a detailed account of the project, Dr. Zhao Wenyu from Telecom Transmission Research Institute of MII reported on the factory tests and the members of the acceptance team had penetrating discussions about the relevant matters in the tests and reached a unanimous conclusion.  After the meeting was over, the members of the team visited FiberHome Technologies' Exhibition Hall, Fiber and Cable Department and System and Equipment Manufacturing Department with great interest and highly appraised its achievements in recent years in the industrialization process and technological research and development.
    Based on the research results of TbpsDWDM transmission system, the Group will further convert 80X40Gb/s DWDM system into products and apply them in practical projects so as to give impetus to the development and practical applications of China's large-capacity transmission technologies.  When this project is completed, it will not only enable the Group to have an overall mastery of the core technologies related to 40G DWDM long-distance optical transmissions and accumulate rich project building experience, but also greatly increase the capacity of the transmission network between Shanghai and Hangzhou and provide an excellent bearer platform for the applications of new services, keeping the level of the commercial applications of China's DWDM equipment in step with the world level.
